Asus striker extreme or Asus maximus formula?

    Hi all i am scratching my head at what mobo to get i was serioulsy going towards the maximus formula cause it has cpu level up for overclocking but it has pcie 2.0 and i have an 8800 gtx will it be compatible? with 2.0 bus . if you guys could maybe give me the pros and cons of each board i could make up my mind cheers

    that is a new board and the 2.0 bus is what the new video cards are going to be coming out at and this board will work work with u're card.

    but the 8800 gtx was made before pcie 2.0 was even out is it not just compatible with 1.0?

    All PCIe 1.1 GPU's (like yours) are compatible with PCIe 2.0 slots.

    all PCIe 2.0 GPU's are backwards compatible with PCIe 1.1 slots (albeit in about 1-2 years there might be some performance loss haha)
