Asus Transformer T100 Review: Windows 8.1 convertible for less than $500

This reviewer needs to go back to proper reviewing101.
The conclusion is the most embarrassing part.

Mike Steele is absolutely right. I bought this about 2 weeks ago (mine has 32GB eMMC and 500GB harddrive on keyboard) as a plaything. Instead, I gave my ipad mini to my wife, kept my Nexus and sold my iPad Air (seriously) and fully employ my out-of-home use on this device.

It's plasticky, no doubt, but having a full version OS (whether windows 8.1 or Mac) is a big plus. Weight aside, I can do a lot more!

E.g. Opening more than 4 tabs on any browsers (and I had tried Safari, Chrome, iCab, Dolphin, Atomic - if you read this, you'll know I'm an authentic and serious user of iPad to name all these browsers on top of my head even though the iPad Air is sold) in iPad Air will cause a slowdown and refresh problem (webpage will reload itself, wastage of bandwidth since I'm relying on mobile network on the go and also resultiing in lost of what I typed if I switch to another tab). No problem whatsoever on this device.

I can most definitely use Photoshop Elements 12 on this Asus T100 - not sure from where this reviewer got his information, with no slowness too.

Most of the steam games are doable (except 3D games) like Baldur's gate, Shadowrun returns, Might & Magic, etc (these are the games that I currently own and play).

Office home and student edition is free (code given in the box) as well as trend micro full year license (at least this is the offer from where I'm from).

There are downsides to this device - it doesn't charge on normal USB charger. It states a need for 5V, 3amp. It sometimes wake even when the tablet is closed thus causing a severe drain on the battery. (Some users encounter a drain too when the tablet is in sleep mode but I don't face it).

Very true to the missing integrated mobile network. Instead, I employed a mobile modem (like Huawei) or hotspot from my iphone.

I'm thinking of purchasing one of these, and I'm just wondering if the battery life for just wifi and an application or two like word running, actually reaches around 8-10 hours?

Yes, the battery in use does reach around 8 hours with normal use (normal use = web browsing, office, editing a photo).
