ATI 9250 Video Card help

I bought an ATI 9250 video card about 3 years ago. It was in my old computer. I got a new one its a Compaq Presario. I put the card into the slot towards the bottom and plugged my monitor into it. After I started it up, it froze at the Windows XP loading screen. It wouldn't go any further than that. Later, I took it out and now it works fine. Any suggestions?

Did you disable onboard video in bios first?

No, I just put it in. It doesn't have another video card, unless they come in the computer already.

yes its called onboard video. Disable it in bios or device manager, then put in the card and install the drivers.
