ATI Firepro v5800

My dad works for HP and recently got a new workstation. He works with support so he doesn't require a high end graphics card. Since I use my computer for games he offered to trade cards with me (I'm currently running an Nvidia 8800GTS). However, my computer was assembled a few years back with parts that weren't exactly cutting edge at the time. So my question is, will I be able to support this new card and how much a performance increase can I expect? Is the Firepro even a better option for gaming? Here are my current specifications
Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400(2.13ghz Dual Core)
4 GB RAM
Intel Desktop Board DG965WH
Nvidia 8800GTS(Going to be replaced)
Silencer 610w EPS12V Power Supply
