Ati Radeon x300 problem

Hi I'd like to ask for some advice please.

Comp Specs
Windows XP
1.256GB RAM
Video card - integrated radeon x200
Dual processor.

I just got a radeon x300 card after checking it was compatible, feel silly bought it cheap and the disk that came with it was just catalyst burned onto a blank CD.

Anyhoo, I opened up the PC saw a slot it fitted, put it in, closed it back up and plugged the monitor into the new card.

So it starts up okay and gives me the message windows has found new hardware etc, windows does something then says to restart.

Now the computer just freezes on the black windows screen with the blue thing going across, however I can start in safe mode.

Out of interest if I remove the x300 and replug monitor back into the integrated
x200 it works just fine again.

On running catalyst it gives a message along the lines of try installing a VGA driver.

I appreciate the fault is probably due to me and my lack of knowledge but if any kind person could maybe point out what I'm doing wrong so I can slap my head and go DUH, I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Did that and now it's working like a dream.

Yay thanks a lot :D

Edit: Probably not relevant now but was PCI-Express (E for short?)
