Is there a way to re adjust Avast so when you click on Open Avast user interface>Scan, it won't automatically start a Quick scan? TIA.

Ok, I think I just solved it. I think it only happens on XP, not W7. Will check it out further later.

As soon as I click scan, it starts a Quick scan. I stop it & click Full scan.

Scan is a shortcut to whatever default scan you have setup. Quick Scan is the default, but you can change it Full System or Removable Media or Folder. Just click on Security tab, then Antivirus, then select what you want to scan.

Looks software-specific to me. I don't have any suggestions.
