Avast! problems?

Earlier today I had Avast! say there were many programs that were "Trojan.gen {other}". Such as VundoFix.exe, SmithFraudFix ( the entire folder and the .exe ) and a few other anti-virus programs recommended by TechSpot.

I've had no problems with these specific programs in the past, so I'm suspecting the new update that came out today (7-28-08) might contain a few false positives. Does anyone else experience these problems?

Those get picked up by a few different scanners - you can remove them with the following:

    OTCleanit! by Oldtimer
    • Download OTCleanIt
    • Click the CleanUp! button.
      • It will go thorugh the list and remove all of the tools it finds and then delete itself (requiring a reboot).

Also, those programs are not good for day to day scans and cleaning, they should only be used if you have those specific infections
