Back door Agent, Heur, Cryptor Help

My sons computer is infected with some viruses that I cannot remove. First of all, he has a Dell Inspiron with Windows XP, and WAS running with no antivirus software. (oops!)
So when it was running REALLY slow a week ago, I installed Spybot, and AVG free, and have run those scans at least 6 times each. It still comes up with the following that cannot be removed:
Trojan Horse Back Door.Agent.A.A.XY
Win32/Cryptor
Win32/Heur

How can I get rid of these? Should I disconnect him from my network? Should these be run in safe mode? Sorry, I am technically challenged, please try to respond so I can understand!
