  1. Well my computer gets stuck at the windows startup screen.
The loading screen appears, then the screen goes blank and stays there showing only my mouse. I think it may be a virus, I shutdown my computer because i was getting some spam popups now it doesn't work.

I'm not a big computer person. But there are a couple documents saved on my computer that i would like to retrieve before i take it into the repair shop or reformat. My computer could use to be reformatted anyways.

I am pretty sure there is a way to save these couple documents to disk or CD by booting up in safe mode? how would i do it?

    1- shutdown the system
2- attach a USB storage device (large capacity thumbdrive or any usb HD)
    3- boot into Safe Mode
    4- login as admin

once you can get to the GUI, dbl-click My Computer and find the external device.
    open it in one window.

Open a second window and locate the files to be saved.

    Drag-n-Drop onto the first window
