Best of 2011: Gadgets and Tech Devices

iPhone 4S gets the 2nd highest score? that's a pretty high score for basically a catch up product that offered nothing new. It just goes to show you that Apple products always get an extra 15 percent or so score just for having an Apple logo on the product.

The Nokia Lumia 800 is a FAR more innovative product with FAR better hardware and yet it scores well below iPhone 4S.

Surprised at the relatively low score for the Galaxy Nexus. The most innovative smartphone ever to come to market.

If you honestly think that the 4S brought nothing new to the table, then it shows how little you know about the tech world. The iPhone has been arguably the best phone on the market since it came out, so Apple doesn't need to do a complete redesign for every release if it's already on top. Specs really don't matter as much on a phone. That's more PC mentality. The OS is what does all the talking, and WP7 and Android have serious issues in that department. Hence why those phones score badly.

I've been drooling over Corsair SP2500 speakers for a while, especially after Oklahoma Wolf scrupulously reviewed and recommended them on [JG]. And now it's in this tech top as well!
Don't have the finances for this thing, though.

Wow the list is quite extensive, well done TechSpot don't agree with all the top scoring items though.

To clarify, we don't make up the scores but they are aggregated from numerous reviews from many different publications.

We don't necessarily make the picks either. Although we have undoubtedly acted as a filter and tried to present this in the most digestible manner possible, the two main criteria for choosing the best products of the year were: 1) a 2011 release date and 2) high scores and overall praises across the board.

You will note how certain products that are affected by rapid release cycles (LG T-Mobile G2X on smartphones or the Eee Pad Transformer on tablets), no longer are the best of the best and in some cases there are successors to those products. However we didn't discard them in favor of holiday season releases as the point was to elevate those products that during the year were considered to be the best.
