I need help. I updated my Inspiron 2200 Bios from A05 to A07. The system has been really unstable and crashed my laptop not allowing me to reload Windows. How can I rollback my changes to the Bios?

'not allowing me to reload Windows'

Reload or simply load (as in boot to) Windows?

ie, are you doing a re-install or what?

I used KILLDISK and wiped the drive. Now I'm trying to load Windows but either it freezes during the re-formatting sequence or it tells me that it can not format the drive. The drive checks out good with Spin-rite 6.0. It did once go into installing Windows but kicked out with a missing file error. I am attempting a full, fresh install at each attempt.

You should contact Dell - have your Service Tag # ready - they may be able to send you an older Bios version via Email or such.

I also noted that Dell has Western Digital HD 'Urgent' updates for your comp for compatability purposes. Did you ever use the one for your specific drive?

Dell site: (you could tell because it says ' http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/' but I have been TOLD to say what the self-evident url links to):

http://support.dell.com/support/dow...0&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=-1&impid=-1

No I had no idea about the HDD update. I'll contact DELL tonight and ask for the older bios version. As for the hard drive update. Will I need to load Windows first before I can update the HDD?

Go to the Dell site and find out - that's what I would have to do to answer you. (or Western Digital)

:)
