    When I power on my laptop, the BIOS won't go any further then the BIOS menu options. The screen is still at the Gateway logo and BIOS menu. I checked to see if it was the HDD but the disk is good. I tried removing the CMOS battery, but that didn't work.

    Gateway 7422gx
    Win XP/Ubuntu Linux
    Pheonix bios

    Is there a way to fix BIOS?
    What can be the problem?

    Thanks

    Do you have anything like a USB drive or keyboard or something connected to the computer when you try to boot?
    Or, when the you see the logo press ESC and then see if it says (for ex.) press F1 to continue.

    @Steeve No I didn't make any changes.

    @DjKraid I don't have anything connected to the computer. I pressed esc at logo screen now I'm seeing BIOS/system information and press <F2> to enter SETUP... Does not go any further even after pressing F2...

    how did you check the hard drive - in another machine?

    @Steeve Yes I checked it in another machine... I'm certain it's the BIOS. Any suggestions on what can be done?
