Black screen on HP tx2000

Before I get into this, let me state that I know just above the bare minimum about computers/tech. I've had my hp tx2000 since 2008 and besides the ridiculously horrible touch screen interface, I've loved this computer. A few months ago I was on the laptop when the screen just went black. There was no flickering, no error messages, nothing, just gone. I hook it up to my TV with an S cable, so I know that there is nothing majorly wrong with the rest of the business, just the screen. Before I take it in I just wanted to see if I could get any feedback on possible causes/solutions. Thanks for any help!

Barely but yes. If the lights just right and Im looking at juuuust the right angle, I can sorta see my desktop. I had never tried this until now, what does that mean?

The LCD backlight has failed. This could be caused by a bad inverter or by a bad LCD panel itself. You will have to take it in for repair
