Blank screen on startup

Hi all,
I've been browsing this forum without registering for quite a while and I thought I'd join because I need some help.

When I start my computer, I get a blank screen but I can hear the system starting up with the windows startup tune if I let it switch on. Even after waiting for a few minutes, I still have a blank screen. However, when I hit the restart button immediately (~2 sec) after I switch the computer on, I get video ouput. I don't want to continue doing that as I may ruin my computer. Here are my system specs :

RAM : 2047 MB
Graphics card : NVIDIA GeForce 6200 TurboCache (TM)
Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo
OS : Windows Vista (32 bit)

I just updated my drivers for the graphics card but the problem persists. I have cleaned the insides of the computer but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Try resetting your Bios settings to defaults (usually hitting DEL key or F2 key on your keyboard at POST screen to get into Bios Setup)

Also try reseating your Video card and checking all internal cables

If it's still happening it may be a faulty Power Supply, or a faulty Video card itself

I don't get any such screen on startup. No POST screen, no nothing. It is just blank. The monitor light just keeps blinking as if the CPU were off.

got same problem

I got exactly the same problem

I just bought Powercolor Radeon HD 2600 Pro AGP, after installing the card (+ connected the molex power connector), when I powered up, the CRT responded to a signal but then it enters standby mode again without even showing BIOS screen.

POST done successfully (1 short beep), then the harddrive working until it enters windows I can hear my windows startup sound but still with the blank screen since POST, CRT power led still blinking.

When I push the power button, windows doing shutdown until it power off automatically.

I tried to remove all PCI cards, all power connector to Harddrive & DVD-ROM, so practically the PSU only supply Mobo+VGA Card+Fan (I use ThermalTake Fan) but still can't display BIOS screen.

However when I change back my card to Radeon 9600XT AGP, it works normally.

When I use extreme.outervision . com/PSUEngine it only requires 290w with my current rig (+ HD 2600 Pro)

Please help me.

My Specs:
Asus P4P800 Deluxe
Power Color HD2600 Pro AGP
very cheap PSU Simbadda 450W (definately not a pure one).
3 HD PATA
1 DVD-RW

swap the card with the new one and bought new PSU FSP Saga 400w.

Problems getting worse, monitor still in standby mode since POST, not even woke up awhile (2sec) as previous card.

can anyone help me?
