Blu-Ray DVD Question

  1. i'm new at this - can anyone tell me if BlueRay DVD can be watched on an upconverted DVD player? i was told this was possible but don't know how reliable the source was.

i recently got on Netflix and ordered BlueRay DVD and it did not work on my Philips upconverted DVD player. So wonder if any of them will or just Netflix.

if not are the other DVD's high definition or not

    Thanks.

Bluray is not DVD. They are not compatible formats. An upconverting DVD player will not play high definition media (Bluray or HD-DVD.)

Bluray does not have an e in the name and your source was quite unreliable.

Bluray players are considerably more expensive than an upconverting DVD player and your best bet if you play video games is to buy a Playstation 3. A Bluray player will play DVDs.
