Blue Screen of Death (C:\$Mft error)

Recently I've been getting a lot of write failures messages including the $Mft. Last week computer locked up, during restart I get the BSD, even in safe mode. Went out and replaced the hard drive, my question is can I still use the old drive as a slave for additional storage or should I copy everything off and get rid of it? Will running it as a slave damage my new HD? Thanks.

You could still use your old HD as a slave drive, but check it's SMART status using the manufacturer's utility. If it has failed it's SMART status, then it is likely it won't last too long. You might also wanna try booting off the XP cd and running "chkdsk" from recovory console.
