Blue Screen of Death Random

bullet514

Hi, I bought this computer a while ago maybe 4 months ago and after a month, I started having blue screen of death :| I got like apc index mismatch. page in non paged area. so I wondered what was the problem_but I realised that this problem comes only when Im away from computer meaning goes to screen saveR..or I play game(full screen) I thought it was video card issue. SO I bought a new card GT 240..and I still get blue screen while playing games. I have attached the minidump to this thread; hopefully someone can help me.

- things I have done ;
f9 diagnostics and found no errors on hardware
updated drivers + video card (new one installed)

I have bit doubt on Norton; so any help?

It seems as if all 3 crashes occurred while Grand Theft Auto was running. Either an astonishing coincidence, or...

Start by removing Norton/Symantec. Use this tool: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe
Code:
ccHPx64.sys Fri Feb 05 16:05:45 2010 (4B6C8829)

Microsoft Security Essentials is the recommended replacement: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials

Update or remove your LogMeIn program:
Code:
hamachi.sys Thu Feb 19 05:36:41 2009 (499D3639)
If the BSODs persist, enable driver verifier: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101379-driver-verifier-enable-disable.html

Given the looks of your dumps, a RAM test might not be a bad idea. Use this guide: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

Nothing conclusive in those dumps, unfortunately.

2 dumps were while Symantec was "on the top"; the other 2 were while War Rock was running. We'll just have to wait for the results of the Norton and Hamachi removals.

ok thanks .I will now try to play GTA and test.
if it fails ill try taking ram and put it back..if it fails
i will try memtest ok

In Vista and 7 dumps, the Default Bucket ID is always VERIFIER_ENABLED_VISTA_MINIDUMP or VISTA_DRIVER_FAULT.

If you're interested, you can hunt down John Griffith, username jcgriff2. He could tell you the details much better than I can.

:|

Now I just played GTA..Blue Screen came..then pc restarted then when the microsoft logo came..it was like frozen..
so I presed power button and start..then it said like try startup diagnostic..I said no..and I did normal start ...then on the logo screen(starting windows) a blue screen came and pc restarted..then I did startip diagnostic ..it asked me for system restore I said yes..now it works:S

Try a RAM test: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

Also, if the BSODs persist, could you upload a jcgriff2 report for us? Follow these directions: http://www.jcgriff2.com/BSODpostinstructions.html

Zip up the output folder, and upload it to Rapidshare.

lol I bought the computer like july 15th i think..HP showed their crap.
ok im ruuning the Fan thing
it says
GPU 38c
temp 1 23c
temp 2 47c
temp 3 34c
core 29c

what is ntkrnlmp.exe. ?
imma run memory test now. bye ill post the update tomorrow.

OR..could it be..me running 6GB
but in 3 slots ?...

ntkrnlmp.exe -- in layman's terms, it is the main OS driver. It certainly won't cause any crashes, although it is blamed a lot because it is "on the top" most of the time.

For some reason, the RAM info file in the jcgriff2 report is corrupted. Could you describe your RAM a bit?

I looked up the specs of your computer, and it does seem to ship with 6GB of DDR3. Since DDR3 is capable of running in triple-channel mode, I would expect that RAM to be configured in 3x2GB sticks.

ok i did the memtest ..no error:S

now im really confused...
So i openedd the box.took off the rams...removed dust if any..then put them back..same way it was before 2 2 2 0
three slots 2 gb each. except last one theres nothing....
.......
But i want to also state..Ive had blue screen also on my old computer (which i dont use anymore - it was memory corruption/apc index mistmatch and stuff)...I know both of them had Norton..but I removed norton here..other thing which is same is ethernet cable linksys? i don't know if thats a problem? and the same monitor..
-------
i also called hp since im still under garanty..only 4 months..i did a serious talk and told them i was unsatisfied with their product and stuff..they said apc mismatch could be ram dust issue..so this morning i removed and i reput so.
they said if i cant fix it..theyw ill come and pick up and fix it..sO?

I have yet to see a bad Ethernet cable cause a BSOD, but our job is full of surprises. If you disabled your Ethernet adapter in Device Management, that would eliminate that as a potential cause.

DDR3 can run in single, dual, and triple channel mode, and the motherboard determines what it chooses. By having 3 sticks in particular slots (say 1,2, and 3), it runs in triple-channel mode. It's probably also capable of running in dual-channel mode if there is RAM in pairs.

I would take HP up on their offer, personally.

How long did you run Memtest for? The longer you run it, the better. I recommend 7 passes in my guide on SF, but any number that exceeds that is better.

Prime95 is also a good one to run: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-cpu-stress-test-prime95.html

ya I went to 7 pass like you told me...it takes about 55 mins for each pass.
I will call HP now..and ask their opinion.
..did you ask jjcgriff2? ...is all my drivers updated?

thank you

I didn't realize you were still interested in the Default Bucket IDs. I can ask him if you like; just say the word.

I didn't see any more drivers I'd pay attention to. If Hamachi is removed, check in C:\Windows\System32\drivers for hamachi.sys.
