    Thanks Route44
I ran the mem test and there was no fault. i will run it over night but i think there is something more sinister afoot. it seems to show itself when there is more than 1 thing going on graphically. this is an avenue to explore. will keep the site posted.

Blue Screen XP Crash Again! with more info

Again whilst playing track mania. Route44 does this lot of info still point to a memory problem??? If so i will start to drink less as long as i can play my game. Any light even a candle will be greatly appreciated. As i said earlier i will run the mem test overnight.

Could try testing your video card RAM, if memtest doesn't find any issues.

You do not need to create multiple threads each time your system crashes. Just add another post to your already current thread so your helper doesn't get confused. Or you don't get multiple people helping and information clashing :)

What freeware (if any) tests video card RAM?

Thanks heaps Snowchick. Unfortunately I'm up for a new video card as the program you suggested showed a high error rate on the card hence the crashes when the graphics increase.

Glad we managed to solve the problem :)
