Bluescreen upon startup Windows 7

Hey all, I have a problem with my Gateway laptop to where every tiem I turn it on it blue screens. Trying to get into my files and such before It blue screens is impossible. Also, Safemode does not work either, it just has the word safe mode in the four corners with a black screen behind it. I will be leaving for around 8 hours from when i post this and will respond to (if any) posts. I would really appreciate help, thanks.

Do you recall downloading any software or experiencing any infections before your troubles started?

Also, how old is your system and can you tell us the make of your harddrive?
