Booting windows over network?

I have an older computer that runs Windows ME, and it has a Quantum Fireball that is unfortunately, pretty loud. Is there anyway to have this computer mount a volume off my server and boot as a thin client or just boot off the hard disk and then shut it down and run over the network?

It would even be nice if I could figure out how to keep the disk off when it's unused. I have it set up to shut the disk off and blank the screen after 10 minutes, but it fires up the disk every 15 minutes after that and then waits another 10 before repeating the cycle.

Does anyone know what could be causing this tiny amount of disk activity that keeps starting the disk?

Or, just boot any decent (decent=non-Windows) OS from the network instead..

I would use Gentoo, but alas, I don't use that computer, and the person who does need Windoze.
