Broadband Internet Disconnection

  1. I have an ADSL broadband connection which uses a speed touch ADSL filter to enable me to use my broadband internet and phone line at the same time. However whenever I am on internet, if someone calls on the phone or if I call out, my internet gets disconnected. I have tried a different filter to no avail. The problem happens when i was with Tiscali and still happens now that I have switch to Bulldog.

    Can anyone help?

what type of phone service do you have
digital phone service will cause some modems not to function properly.

Are using filters on all phones, fax, answering machine & Sky box, if you have them?

Yes I am using filters. My ASDL is on a USB port and I read in some other sites that disconnection do occur with such USB port but I am not sure how true this is

Try using the master socket with extensions disconnected and see if there is any improvement. A modem/router is a better solution than USB. You get NAT translation that hides your machine from the outside world. Is more reliable than USB and allows other machines to share you connection.

Thanks IronDuke. I will give that a try and if doesn't work, may get a router cos the disconnection is totally pissing me off.
