Broken XP

So my cousin has Windows XP, and his computer won't start.... Quoting from the machine,
"Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x86F5E268, OxC0000102, 0x00000000)" Will not start in Safe Modes, nor will using the last known good configuration.

Try running CheckDisk from the Recovery Console:

• Boot from your Windows XP Setup CD (or download a free bootable Recovery
• Disc from HERE)
• Select the first R prompt, to log into the Recovery Console
• Press 1 then Enter
• Type: chkdsk C: /r then press enter (note: 1 space after C: )
• Allow CheckDisk to complete

Restart

STOP: 0x00000024 description: Damage in the NTFS file system
If the above (CheckDisk) does not fix the fault)
You could try a Repair install of Windows XP:

• Microsoft's Windows XP Professional Repair Install step by step
• Microsoft's Windows XP Home Repair Install step by step
