BSOD except in Safe Mode (usually)

I've been getting a consistent BSOD upon boot of my WinXp Dell Laptop. A majority of the time I can get in to Safe mode, but even that has been at times hit or miss. The dump files seem to indicate the probable cause as being ntkrpamp.exe.
Any assistance in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
