Budget gaming build guide

Thanks Murdo, and welcome to Techspot :)
they are Sapphire 4850's and they are the 1gb variety (I think in the pic they were the 512's)

Thanks Ginetrix,
Glad it helped :) if you are building a budget system make sure to take a look at the new offerings from Intel since i wrote that.

Lawl You should have linked me this :3 would have helped me a bit more, nice guide ;D Also consider adding an Unlocking Cores Section Because That can boost frame rates :3

It's better to leave it out, since it's not guaranteed to work (the cores have been disabled for a reason, which is usually that one (or both) of them is(are) faulty) and because it doesn't provide a big enough boost in everything; gaming is still mainly GPU-dependent.

The parts list:
Motherboard: DFI 790FXB M2RS
Processor: AMD Phenom II X3 720 BE @ 3.8 GHz
HS/F: OCZ Vendetta
Power Supply #1: Sigma Shark 635w
Power Supply #2: FSP Group Booster X5 500w
Graphic cards: 3X ATI HD 4850 CrossfireX
memory: 8Gb OCZ Platinum (PC 8500) 1066
HDD: 2x Seagate barracuda 500 Gb 7200 RPM 7000.12
Case: SunbeamTech ACB9 Acrylic
CD/DVD Drive: Asus DRW-22B1LT

is that up to date? Just noticed the date from the post. And am just curious if anything from the original list should be changed.

Might consider locking this.
@ ilikemysupra, start your own thread regarding a computer build.

Why? the vast majority is about concepts for building a budget gamer. maybe update the processor list.

@ ilikemysupra, not sure what your getting at. that list is for one of my computers and the only change is now its 4 x HD 4850 crossfireX, + an AeroCool power Watch, and + a Titan NB cooler.

I was just referring to whether or not the items are outdated enough that I couldn't just use your list. Thanks for the prompt responses, and yes I'll start a new thread if and when I'm looking for more help.

if you would like , when you have a budget for the build let us know what it is, and things like where you live
what resolution you games at,types of games, any components you are using from your current machine...etc. I and others like Ritwik will list some good builds for you .

Hey red, this is the first time I've looked through this, but I went through the links and did not see a link for gpu-z. Maybe edit a section in the overclocking/vga or even the "flop" section. As you oc your card you can actually see the increases in real time.

Got it, put in the 'Flop' section and ID and monitoring software. Not sure how I forgot GPU-Z
