I built a dead silent PC once......until I figured out I had hooked the power switch connection on the board wrong it was completely silent.:D

I probably have the best performance to noise ratio here. My PC can't be any more than 30dba, and well, I recently posted my temps in the temps thread, and as you can see my PC is very cold :D

My previous PC was pretty dang quiet. Had a tiny 40mm fan spinning on the CPU, one single 80mm case fan not moving much air at all, and a single fan PSU.

While we're on this topic, just FYI, I ran a Pentium II 400mhz (Deschutes core) @ 504mhz in a closed case for months (it used to be my server). No GFX card fan, no CPU fan, no PSU fan (sidemount heatsinks and a removed back cover, also low wattage), and the hdd was very quiet to begin with. I put cotton padding near it (was moved to a 5 1/4 bay) save the airhole, and once the case was sealed it ran virtually "dead silent" for about 7 months, before I replaced it. Never had one issue with it either.

    But not too cold.

Now my computer is even quieter than before. I replaced the old 5400rpm Samsung hdd with Seagate Barracuda V and set CPU & PSU fans to 5 volts instead of 7. When the second hdd (Samsung SP40, 7200rpm) shuts down after 7 minutes, I simply can't hear the computer running from one meter away (the computer is on the floor).
    :)
