Hi guys i had a question about windows xp home edition, If I go to My computer then click on my C drive I get the little flashlight icon searching for my files but nothing happens, this problem just started, so I was wondering if maybe I have a virus or could it be something else with my windows xp configuration? Thanks for the help.

Maybe somethings hogging the cpu or ram?..Check task manager to find out.
Apart from that, is the drive active?..(it probably will be if you have booted from it). Could be a virus like you say..All you can do about that is the usual; Make sure your anti-virus is up to date and do a scan...Do other scans for malware and the like, or go to the 8 steps page in the forums (if you really think it's malware or a virus).

Can you access anything from that harddrive? if you've booted from it and its your main one, you'll have your documents/pictures etc on there, see if you're able to access those, if so, try backtracking up through the folders to find where you suddenly can't access anymore, it may be to do with some silly permissions?
