Can an iPhone be hacked by a call?

Details are kinda sketchy but if I understand the situation correctly, a friend of mine let stranger "a" use her iphone to make a call to stranger "b" , so the person is wondering if either person that made the call or the person that was called can hack the owners iphone? TIA

Not in the normal sense of 'hacked'. However, there is an SMS string that can cause problems on Apple devices which results in the device constantly rebooting.

It cannot be hacked/. IOS are built that way. this is to my best of knowledge though

"IOS are built that way." Don't think that a brand name (Apple) is any different than another in this regard. Mac OS X and iOS are just software and software CAN be cracked. Historically there's been a low exposure but only because the market share for Apple was so low it wasn't worth the effort for the hackers.

The big exposure for the iPhone/ iPad is the Sarfari browser. [ the OP was asking about a phone call]. A browser accesses webpages and that's where the problems begin.
