Can i connect a hdmi adapater

Can I connect a hdmi adapter from my non hd laptop to an HD tv and watch a downloaded hd movie?

My laptop is a hp 6930P. Also there is no hdmi port only vga so I was going to buy an adapter


This isnt my area of expertise ive read the adapter isnt the issue it depends on my graphics card? Does anyone know if this laptop has a suitable graphics card for this?


I also read somewhere that if I used the adapter with a non hd laptop and hd screen that the image wouldnt stretch to the size of the tv screen it would stay the size of my laptop. Is that true? Did I misunderstand?

Several YouTube videos on this, haven't had a chance to look,

Must say VGA to HDMI! Think it has to be a powered converter like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...6218&cm_re=vga_to_hdmi-_-12-186-218-_-Product (looks like it is powered from USB port)
