i have been working on my daughters notebook for a few days. i finally discovered that the hard disk needed to be replaced. i just received the hard disk replacement, but i don't have a recovery disk. i can boot that computer in safe mode, but the start programs has no programs listed.

does anyone know how i can open the recovery manager from the "run" command. or how to open it another way? Or, where i can find the command file?

The recovery data was on the failed drive... Reinstall Vista fresh

You can create recovery disk from "Recovery Disc Creation", (Start -> type recovery disc creation). If your hard drive fails again, you have back-up in the future.
