Can I place external hard drives next to each other?

If I have two external hard drives sitting next to each other on my desk (and I mean, *right* next to each other), can they demagnetize each other and can I lose data from the drives?

Maybe a silly question, but I could not find anything online to confirm or deny this. I know that magnets can leak credit cards and other magnetized items. Now I'm wondering...!

    Thanks in advance.

Well, if they could I dont think case manufacturers would put internal hd brackets so close.

direct ans: NOT a problem -- of no concern :)

As long as they're not sitting on your old TV set, by the old CRT monitor, or close to a degausser, I don't think there's a problem with them being close to each other.

They are fine because of the reason supersmash said. They are just internal drives in an external enclosure.
