    Ahem......

    Our intended purpose. So then.....
To my dull and plodding thought processes, the intended purpose doesn't really seem to require or warrant a lengthy or probing excursion into the esoterica of processor architecture.

Anyway, since Intel is looking to discontinue the LGA775 package, existing architecture is likely being implemented on the lower end of the line. To which I would say that I have an E7300 C2D @ 2,66GHz and a Pentium Dual Core E6300 @ 2.8 GHz,. The E6300 offers Virtualization whereas the E7300 does not. The E6300 blows up a CPU score of 6.2 on the Win 7 experience index. I honestly don't think the E7300 would fare quite that well. The E 6300 was 72 bucks as a Newegg "Shell Shocker" deal.

Intel is now pushing the Core ix series for laptops as well, so it is possible the end of line dual core CPUs are a bargain hunters dream.

Captaincranky is correct to point out that there is a difference between the T-4400 Pentium" (mobile) and the slightly older older C2D" (mobile(s)). Most specs i have seen favor the C2D for processing power. Both are dual core and for what your mom is going to be using this for i don't think she will notice any real difference.

i have worked in customer service before and i learned that "the customer is always stupid" line fits better. thanks for the replies. she will be getting a new one VERY son cause she broke her old one, dropped and the HDD started to make funny noises and not boot.

See I have been using HP products for almost 20 years, and now, if i decide to go out and buy another notebook I wouldn't bother looking at HP anymore; the construction quality for sure has gone down considerably.

Infact, I've been thinking about getting rid of my HP DV5 for a while and get an Asus one, but the amount of depreciation in just few months since i bought it; is stopping me from doing so :/.

such an informed and justified comment. Care to provide any reason as to why? or shall we just believe you?
