one of our employees laptop IE was not working, the OS is Win XP with SP3, so i went to add/remove Win components and uninstalled IE and IIS and rebooted the laptop. when the reboot was finished i went back into add/remove Win components and checked IE and IIS boxes and attempted to re-install everything seems to work but the IE still was working.

can someone give me a hand on trying to resolve this issue because this employee needs the IE to work properly in order to do work.

What do you mean by IE not working? Are there any errors? So IE is installed but it can't access the internet?

Is the laptop connected to a network either by wireless or ethernet cable? Can you visit websites using a different browser such as Firefox or Chrome?

Possible virus infection, hard to say from your description. I would check IE Connection settings under Tools==>Internet Options==>Connection==>LAN settings. Check 'automatically detect settings' and see if that helps. Also is the proxy server box checked?
