Cannot read from the source file or disk

Hello everyone. New here. A buddy of mine has a Dell Laptop with Windows XP Pro installed. He's getting the dreaded PCI. SYS file error. I found this thread here:

www.techspot.com/vb/topic16553.html

I followed the links to the site that gives instructions on how to make a slipstreamed Windows XP CD to fix this problem. That site is here:

www.theeldergeek.com/slipstreamed_xpsp2_cd.htm

Problem is, when I try to complete step 1, which is copying the entire contents of the Windows XP CD into the XP Folder, I get this error message:

cannot copy file. cannot read source file or disk

Now what?

It means it cannot read the file on the source disc ;)

You may need another disc, or try cleaning it, or check it for scratches
Also it's always a good idea to delete the folder and start again

Actually run CCleaner as well, before starting the process of copying all files (including hidden and system files, as stated)

How would one go about getting a new Windows XP Pro disk?
