canon 5000F film scan not on menu

    When I set up the scanner for a negative and I go to Photostudio simple mode,select source,"film" isn't in the drop down menu,only "platen"....as per istructions.
    This is a newly set up scanner on a new PC
    Does anyone know what I should do (I'll call the tech as a last resort LOL )
