cant click on anything.

well for some reason half the stuff on my desktop wont open. when i click on it the hour glass will come up for less than a second and it will go away. sometimes it will just make a ding noise or it will say out of memory. also when i click start i cant click on anything in that and CTRL + ALT + DEL doesnt work.
