Can't download DirectX10

Hello all,

I'm having a hard time trying to install DirectX 10.

I have just reinstalled WinXP on a new HD (old one crashed) and would like to install DirectX10.

I can download the installer from the Microsoft website, but when I start the setup it stops at "installing components - initializing" and the window says "Setup could not download the file. Please retry later or check network connection".

My internet seems to be working as normal, apart from this DirectX problem. I tried installing DirectX9, to see if that works...but I get the same problem.

Any ideas?

1. DirectX10 will only work with Vista. You said XP. You will only be able to download DirectX9

2. As to troubles with DirectX9 are you trying the webinstall or you downloading the full distributable? i;m guessing you keep trying the webinstall? try the full distributable

DirectX 10 only for Vista? Ooops....my bad. Didn't realise that.

I tried the full redistributable DirectX 9 and that seems to have worked!
