  1. Hi,
I hope this is the right format for this question. I Can't Get the Add & Remove Program to Open. I've tried going into the Registry and changing mshtml.dll, etc. Iv'e tried going to "Seach'' , command, and ''sfc''. Then putting in the Windows XP CD. I'm using a Dell Dimension 4700. I've used the Windows XP CD they sent me. It doesn't work. I'm at a loss. Short of reformatting, I don't know what to do. Any Ideas??????? Thank You. . . Allan

Why did you not try it in safe mode first? Try that and post back with results.

I'm sorry. I forgot to say that the first thing I did was go into Safe Mode and try. That didn't work either.

soounds like you have either a virus\trojan or system file corruption, or both.

What I would do is make a XP disk from your dell recovery disk you can find out how here.

Then use Nlite http://www.nliteos.com/ to slipstream SP2 into it and you will have a XP with SP2 disk you can use for installs and repairs.
