Can't update Windows or drivers

    Recently I did a factory restore on my dell dimension 9100 and now I cant update my drivers for any of my hardware and also windows update doesn't work. I've tried downloading them and they won't work. Starting to think its some virus and I'm just screwed. Any help would be great. Running windows xp btw

    Did you check that Windows is activated properly? Because if not, it won't do Windows Update as well. Just check in the Control Panel, System details.
    It is also possible that the Windows Installer is not working. But then you would also have problems installing other software.

    Did you install windows service pack 3? If not go to Microsoft support site and download it .This will let your updates for windows work. For your drivers you will need to go to the dell support site and enter your service tag. This should take you to your model drivers download page. Hope this helps

    Your system time and date must be correct in order for Windows Update to function correctly.
