I have a strange problem (already a few years).
When I startup my computer my cd writer is not recognized by the BIOS. The power lamp is lit, nut instead of switching off it keeps burning. I am not able to open it, I can push the button, but the driver does not react.
When I remove the IDE cable, startup, shutdown, reconnect the cable and startup again, the drive does work again. After a week I get the same problem again.
If I do not do anything, sometimes it works again. In 99% of the cases, this is when the outside temperature is high 30C. When it becomes colder again it stops working.
My cd writer has already been replaced by a newer version, but this did not resolve the issue.
The Master/slave setting is ok.
I have a KT7 motherboard, 900MHz AMD processor, AOpen cd writer (5 years old, do not know the exact type).
Has anyone ever seen the same issue, does anybody know how to solve this... Help, it really starts getting annoying...
