Cell Phone

No, you shouldn't. Re-read my previous post where I gave you some answers.

Taking a photo of your phone showing it is your best bet, really. Just make sure the photo is readable.

It's likely that AVG was blocking the connection.

What to do now:
  1. Remove Task Killer, Battery Saver, AVG.
  2. Go to: Settings > Apps > All.
  3. Give me a list of every app you have installed.
  4. We'll check the list and let you know if there's any other bad app on there.

Beach Free Live Wallpaper - I like it!
Facebook
Gmail
Google Playstore
Kies Air
Maps
Messenger
SMS Backup+
The Weather Channel
Y! Mail

  • Any live wallpapers will chew your phone and battery. It may look pretty, but I'd get rid of it.
  • The rest of the apps look okay. Just make sure you set them to 'push' notifications if available, or make sure they aren't pulling data every 10min (yMail, weather).

OK, I guess I'll have to get rid of it :( What do you mean by chew your phone and battery?...sorry not up on cell slang!

How do I push notifications and pulling data?...bear with me here! Btw, the phone seems to be running better! Thank You St1ckM4n :)

Push notifications are separate to each app, and global on your phone. On your phone, go to:

Settings > Accounts > sync. Make sure sync is turned on. Global sync, not the sync for each app. The wording on your phone will be slightly different.

In each app, there will be a "refresh every?" or "pull data every" setting. Facebook for example allows you to set 'push' instead of 'manually every x minutes'.

Hi St1ckM4n,

I go the first part about making sure sync is on! In the rest of the apps it says:

Force stop
Uninstall
Clear data
Move to USB storage
Clear cache

I don't think I have a "refresh every?, or pull data every?...setting, unless I'm looking in the wrong place!

Yeah, wrong place. :p You need to open the actual app and use the settings menu inside it.

I'm at the setting menu and clicking on the apps... and when I open them, I don't have a refresh every day, or pull data every...! That's all it says, what I put down down above...don't see any other settings menu inside the apps! Help! Can you walk me through this a little better! Thanks :)

You're still in Phone Settings > Apps > Installed.

You need to close out of that and just open up Facebook app normally. Then press the menu button, or the top-right icon, scroll down to App settings, hit Refresh Interval > never.

Do the same for things like Weather app.

Btw, I noticed all the different alerts that are checked to be on...I unchecked a bunch of them that I don't think I'll need! Hope that's OK? I didn't know there's this many options on these phones!...I'm learning...love it! Thank You for your time St1ckM4n!

Btw, I have a ton of pictures about 300+ in my photo Gallery that I can't remove - doesn't give the option - only says Slideshow, Share and More, but nothing comes up under More, unless they're referring to the Share and Slideshow option!, The only ones that give me the option to Delete are the ones under "Camera"

Have you tried using the build-in file manager and see if that can delete them? Or download one from Google Play. I use ES File Explorer since that allows me to access files in the shared folder on the network.

Should be in the app drawer. Think it's called My Files, icon resembles a folder. I don't have the stock ROM on my Samsung Fascinate (Galaxy S) anymore, so I had to go by a picture I found on Google. Anyway, if the files you want to delete are on the SD card, that app should be able to delete.

I did find My Files, but I was only able to figure out Screenshots in there and delete them, so I don't know how to delete the rest of them!

Ok, then in this case, it might be easiest just to connect your phone to a computer, and use the file manager on the computer to delete those files. Or take the SD card out and put that in the computer. For either of the two options, I'm assuming those files that you want to delete are on the SD card.

I've read some things on the internet, and some people say connect your computer to iphones or itunes, and that should get the other albums off! I don't know why they don't just have delete buttons on all the separate albums! I have over 500 pictures in Gallery, and I'm sure it's doing a # on my battery!

I'll give the File manager a try too Rabbit, Thanks
