Changing 64bit back to 32 bit

I have searched the archives for an answer with no luck or I am not searching the right thread.
My husband is using a computer at work that is set up to 64bit and is having problems running some of his software. He was told you can change the system back to 32 bit. Could someone please enlighten me as to how to do this.

You have to start from scratch, you can't just convert a 64bit OS to a 32bit one. The 32bit one will have to be installed fresh.
