Chrome documents

I upgraded to the latest version of Chrome. In this process all my documents went missing. Windows 8.1, and I've tried everything I know of to recover the docs. Grateful for assistance.

Chrome should automatically update itself. If you forced an update by downloading something I'm a little concerned you downloaded something that wasn't entirely Chrome. I could be completely wrong, but what you are describing doesn't make any sense at all.
