Clone/Image to External Hard Drive

  1. gale Newcomer, in training

    I have XP and recently purchased a AcomData USB external hard drive. I can make backups to the external drive but (contrary to what I was told) I cannot clone my C: or image it to the external drive. I have used Norton Ghost, Acronis True Image and Power Quest. Any help? Thanks.

    You could always try to save the image to another internal HD, then after reboot move it to the external HD.
    USB is not active when those image programs run (under some sort of DOS or Linux).
