Well most forum do close old threads. Sometime closing a thread after a certain time is a good idea as it then encourages members to start new threads. as a lot of members don't seem very motivated to starting new topics they tend to hang around on the same threads.

With topics on Windows 7,Windows 8 for example,Windows and software is constantly being updated. So topics on IE8 for example won't apply is say 3 months time as most people would have solved the problem or moved on to another browser by then.

Andrea Borman, there's no need to revive old threads. You are saying so yourself. It's not good practice here or in many other forums.

Your right Julio. On some forums there are threads over a year old that are not relevant now or most members have lost interest in. So yes it is better to close threads after a certain time. Also some threads on some forums are about 60 pages long and most people won't want to wade through that many pages.

It's become almost a given that you'd be over here telling us how it should be done.
