Having this issue with my PC. Never had any issues before, it's suddenly happening out of the blue ( I read about fixes on how to geek - didn't work since I can't add a 64bit dllhost.exe via DEP ) so I'm asking here for alternative fixes. I have VLC, PS CS5, k-lite codec pack, however these things never affected my preview of photos before so I feel they are ruled out IMO. I don't want to turn off thumb preview btw. So anyway, anyone can assist with helping me fix this issue? Much assistant would be helpful!

how long ago and what changed about that time?

get a command prompt and enter eventvwr.msc

click on the System Events and look for Error Events.
    How many to you see?

Start from the top and scroll down to the first & dbl-click to open it
and is it the Com Surrogate?

you can copy/paste a few of them in your follow-up
