Compaq Presario CQ61 screen LCD cable change but not working

    also m8 when i touched round the side of the actual lcd screen on the silver bit it came on once .. could it be a magnetic strip as i think thats what its got instead of a lid switch

    Is there a tiny switch near where you press the cable with your fingernail? You changed that cable, right? What happens when you lift the cable a bit?

    na no switch anywhere that i can see i heard this model has a magnetic strip as the lid close thing .. and i gently touch the cable just inbetween the connection to mb and connection to inverter and screen comes on

    I guess that could be the trouble. So are we back to replacing the LCD panel?

    yea but really dont wanna pay for new screen then it not that as cost me £20 odd already getting lcd cable and an inverter

    yea £40 on ebay but that would then be £60 spent and if it still dont work i think i need to put it in shop to see what problem is

    Hello, I am having the same problem you are having with the compaq cq61. I am VERY frustrated :oops:! I just bought a new LCD for $113.00 and I replaced the screen and I still have the same problem! The screen starts just fine and then dims where I can barely see the desktop. Please let me know if you were able to solve this problem. Thanks!

    Sounds like a motherboard problem now

    I found the problem was the connection on the motherboard when the cable conects to the mb was the problem
