The VMware is a single platform solution to allow multiple systems to co-exist on a single platform (ie one bootable box -> many systems)

Cloud Computing is a MUCH bigger solution of multiple systems (anywhere on the Internet)
cooperating together to provide bits & pieces so as to be combined to create an
application (the implementation of which is nay impossible to know at any one moment.)

That last statement is derived from the issue that the bits & pieces can run
anywhere and are dynamically routed for each 'piece'.

The simplest illustration is VMware is like multiple Tasking while Cloud Computing is the big gorilla in the room, Full Multiple Processing with mult-tasking
