Hi MindShred
CrystalDiskInfo reports my Health Status as Caution, however!
This means the SMART sensors on your disk have recorded some errors. On the one hand, this doesn't mean an imminent drive failure. But on the other hand, once SMART sensor errors start to occur it significantly increase the odds of a disk failure sometime in the future. So is probably wise to also plan to replace your hard disk.
That said, I saw this among the other errors in your old event log which often means backup failure due to disk and or memory errors (and why i asked you first check your drive)
Code:
Log: 'Application' Date/Time: 11/11/2010 9:11:30 AM
Type: error Category: 0
Event: 12289 Source: VSS
Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error DeviceIoControl(00000248,0x0053c010,00039C30,0,00038C28,4096,[0]). hr = 0x80070057.
So first important question: Are you running backups? And have you verified your backups are completing successfully?
And while we want to review how your machine is doing in general since the changes you made, i think is best you still plan to replace your hard drive. which then also begs the question: is it better to transfer a snapshot of your current drive to the new one, or perhaps just do a full, clean reinstall.
Do you have your Windows and program installation CDs and any needed activiation product keys if need be?
