My comp keeps freezing every time i try to use it (i turn it on... use if for about 15-20 minutes... then it freezes). This was BEFORE i reformatted the entire system (wiped the hard drive clean and re-installed XP Home)... sadly, my computer still freezes after i have reformatted it and updated all drivers. contrary to other situations i have read about in the forum, my freezing issue is not related to the internet. any light on this situation would be greatly appreciated :)

*It's been running fine for the past few years... I haven't added any new hardware to the system since i got it... it just decided to start freezing one day... and it has been freezing ever since :(

My system specs are on my profile.
    Athlon XP 3000+
    MSI K8T800 motherboard
    2 GB DDR2
    Radeon 9600 256MB
    SB Audigy 2
    XP Home

    try cleaning all contacts
    for pci ,memory hard drives
    if you up to it
remove cpu and clean re-apply thermal past or a thermal pad
older machines have this paste dry out and bumping around breaks contact and you get over heat
not sure about home version but check event viewer in computer manager
make sure all fans are working and keep it clean cpu fins get clogged fast
after that if still locking up
    re-install all board drives (updates)
    all hardware drives
now you have a meory test you can do
i don't know the link to download software
if 2 sticks are present (or more)
    remove all but one
    if its single channel system
some systems must have 2 sticks populated
