Computer searching for wi-fi, why?

My pcu is connected to cable. when I click it for it to come on, it searches for my wi-fi. sometimes the log-in screen will come up.why all of a sudden is it looking for wi-fi??

Because, if the WiFi is active, that's what they are built to do.

If you have a wired connection, just disable the wifi.

But why all of a sudden does it look for wi-fi after about 8 months if its hard wired?
